Vocabify is a vocabulary-learning product built by a three-person cross-functional team. We define the product together; I am the primary full-stack and backend engineer and own the platform and infrastructure.
Product
Learners can generate structured vocabulary cards and follow an opinionated FSRS review flow instead of manually building decks and tuning scheduling settings.
Engineering
Structured AI generation: Background generation validates and produces card content with definitions, examples, pronunciation, and lexical metadata.
FSRS learning flow: Server-authoritative review scheduling, daily study budgets, streaks, and timezone-correct progress keep learning state consistent.
Backend ownership: NestJS, PostgreSQL, Redis, caching, queues, authentication, and the API’s performance work are owned on the engineering side.
Production platform: Kubernetes deployment, GitLab CI/CD, Prometheus, Grafana, mail delivery, and operational configuration are part of the product rather than afterthoughts.
The product is live at vocabify.ir. It is early-stage; this case study makes no user-growth or learning-outcome claims.
